The Basics

Partial and complete are the two main forms available, which can be acquired right here at our local clinic. Partial dentures are similar in style to a dental bridge. It is recommended when a patient has some of their natural teeth. A metal framework is incorporated into the design to anchor the dentures in place. In comparison, a complete denture restores one’s entire smile. They can be fixed or removable.
The pink base of the denture is fabricated from dental-grade acrylic, while the artificial teeth are often made from porcelain. The latter material easily mimics the appearance of natural teeth, which is why many patients prefer it.
Upon a preliminary consultation, Dr. Degner can recommend the most appropriate option. If your smile requires more support or you are dealing with jaw deterioration due to tooth loss, dental implants may be recommended. The implants help stimulate bone growth and provide a strong foundation for the dentures to sit on.

- Impressions: We take digital impressions or scans of your oral cavity to capture the proper measurements.
- Fabrication: The visual information gathered by the scans helps guide dental technicians as they create your unique dentures. They will also be made according to your aesthetic preferences.
- Return Visit: Your dentures are sent back to us when they are made. We’ll have you come in for a follow-up visit so you can put them in, and we can make further adjustments if necessary.
- Care Instructions: Before you go, Dr. Degner will provide instructions on properly caring for your dentures. This includes handling them with care, routinely brushing and cleaning them with denture solution, and staying in contact with us if any difficulties arise. Your mouth will take a bit of time to adjust, and that’s okay.
Should your appliance become broken or chipped, come in for an appointment; we’ll get it fixed right away. Do not try to mend it yourself, as the device may simply need to be replaced.
