Love It Dental provides oral sedation to patients in need. As the name of the treatment indicates, this involves providing medication that can be taken via the mouth. Often, it comes as a pill that is swallowed, but it can also be a liquid.
Depending on the case, oral sedation can be mild or moderate. Mild sedation keeps patients awake, but they are very relaxed. Moderate sedation also helps patients relax, but they may end up drifting off to sleep before their treatment is over.
You will be given the medication an hour before your scheduled appointment. Dr. Degner and her team will monitor your vitals (heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, etc) while they work to ensure that you’re doing well. Most people feel a bit groggy once the medication wears off, which is why we recommend having someone drive you home.
Take it easy for the first 24 hours following your procedure. Side effects may occur, like a dry mouth, headaches, or nausea, but these are rare. However, should they persist, make sure to call our dentist in Kelowna right away.
