Restorative Fillings Near You
Tooth decay is a prevalent issue among patients everywhere. It is caused by a buildup of bacteria, which feeds on sugars and starches. The bacteria eventually multiply and begin to eat away at the structure of your tooth, leading to cavities or holes.
At Love It Dental, our skilled dentist near you, Dr Suzanne Degner, is at your disposal, eager to help you repair and strengthen your smile. This can be achieved by acquiring dental fillings.
For more information on our services, you’re invited to reach out to our local clinic whenever your schedule suits you.
What are Fillings?
A dental filling is a restorative solution for patients of all ages. It involves clearing out the bacteria and decay and, as the name indicates, filling the space with a special material to prevent further decay. In the past, silver amalgam was the material of choice to fix teeth, and while it is still available today, many patients prefer tooth-coloured fillings because they are more discreet.
Here at Love it Dental, we provide composite fillings. This option is just as effective as amalgam, but it blends in nicely with the colour of your natural teeth. As a result, your filling won’t be noticeable when you talk, eat, or laugh. This gives many patients a confidence boost, allowing them to enjoy their days without feeling embarrassed or anxious.
Getting Dental Fillings at Our Clinic
The first step in acquiring a dental filling is speaking with Dr. Degner. She will discuss your dental and medical history with you and inspect your smile. X-rays may also be taken to fully understand the extent of the decay. Once this has been determined, a tailored treatment plan is devised, ensuring that your functional and aesthetic requirements are met.
Next, all the decay will be removed from your tooth. Once the area is cleaned, the composite resin is applied. A curing light is brought in to help the material harden. Dr. Degner will polish your tooth and check that the filling does not impact your bite pattern. If you have questions or concerns about any aspect of your treatment, please let us know so we can address them before you leave. Your comfort matters to us.
It is normal to experience minimal sensitivity following your session; this symptom will fade after a couple of days. But, if it does not, contact us right away.
Your new restoration will be evaluated during your routine checkups to make sure that it is holding up well. Adjustments can be made if necessary.
